According to Oxford Languages, “Design is a plan or drawing produced to show the look and function or workings of a building, garment, or other objects before it is made.”

If we take a look around us everything has been designed. It’s designed in a certain way so that ‘WE’ the customers get attracted to that product constantly.

As a budding UI/UX Designer I believe that “Design is Powerful”. The design has the potential to impact mankind, our society, and the way we look at things.

For over several decades design has impacted both the physical and the digital world immensely. But our digital development happened faster than our physical development. Due to this our lifestyle changed a lot. We have been exposed to more opportunities and possibilities. There has been information-overloaded on the internet. Which is causing damage more than betterment.

According to a 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer Tech Sector Report and World Economic Forum, it is found that along with the substantial opportunities the digital age brings, comes a diverse range of risks and harms.

The question is why is it happening in this way! Any technology that emerges is to solve problems, not to create problems. But still, it happens and it is causing disruption in our social as well as personal life.

The reason being is the irresponsible use of technology.

The designers stopped taking responsibility of their designs and the tech companies are skipping the part of Ethics that needed to be followed. It’s quite impossible to imagine a life without technology but maybe if We as a designer start taking responsive actions then the amount of damage that is happening could be reduced.

There is hope for a better world. Start taking responsibility of your actions.
